Yellowstone National park is located in the northwest corner of Wyoming with parts of it going into Idaho and Montana. It was designated as a national park in 1872 making it the oldest national park in the world. Yellowstone is also the largest national park in the continental United States covering 3,400 square miles (about 2.2 million acres). The park contains more than 10,000 geysers and hot springs which is more than all other regions in the world combined. The most famous of the geysers is Old Faithful which is the parks main attraction. It erupts approximately every 75 minutes. Yellowstone also has many other attractions which includes beautiful waterfalls, alpine lakes, river canyons, open meadows and abundant wildlife.
