Pikes Peak and Royal Gorge are both located in southcentral Colorado. Pikes Peak is about 22 miles from Colorado Springs and Royal Gorge is about 77 miles. Pikes Peak is one of the tallest Peaks in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 14,110 feet and is the tallest from base to summit in Colorado rising 7,400 feet. There is a 19 mile partially paved road that you can drive up to the summit. It winds its way up the mountain with some of the best views in the Rocky Mountains. There is also a 13 mile trail that you can hike up to the top if you are up for the challenge. The summit also can be reached by going 9 miles up on a cog wheeled train that is on the highest cog railway in the world. The Royal Gorge is considered the highest suspension bridge in the world at 1,053 feet above the Arkansas river. Other attractions at the gorge are the world's longest single-span Aerial Tram and the world's steepest Incline Railway. The Aerial Tram that goes across the gorge is 2,200 feet long and is 1,178 feet above the Arkansas river with beautiful views of the bridge, gorge and surrounding area. The Incline Railway takes you down the towering granite walls to the canyon floor. The incline is 1,550 feet in length and slopes at a 45-degree angle.
