Death Valley National Park is located on the eastern border of south-central California and includes a small area of Nevada.  It about 50 miles wide and more than 150 miles long making it the largest national park in the U.S. It also contains the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere at 282 feet below sea level which is near Badwater. Death Valley is one of the hottest places on earth, attaining the highest temperature ever recorded in the U.S. at 134 degrees F. on July 10, 1913. Summer high temperatures commonly run above 120 degrees F.
